Canvassing

There are two types of canvassing that Wirral West does - door to door canvassing and telephone canvassing.

Telephone canvassing usually takes place in some offices the use of which has been kindly donated. We arrange a team of 6 normally on a Wednesday night but can be on any other night suitable. That team rings round people to establish their voting intensions.

We canvass for a very good reason we need to know who supports us and who doesn't. If we find out people don't, in a particular area, it could mean that the message on our party's policies aren't getting through in which case we then need to do something about it and ensure it does get through.

You then have door to door canvassing, quite honestly this is the job that quite a lot of people dread. Political canvassing, it has to be said, does have a little bit of a stigma.

All that said this is probably one of the best jobs in the association it is by far than most fun.

We normally organise teams of canvassing during the day and some evenings. They are not pushy on the doorstep as we don't want to alienate people any more than you would.

All we do is try and visit as many people as we can in the time we have and just establish their voting intentions.

As we do this in a team there is a lot of fun and enjoyment had by all and normally after we all retire somewhere more comfortable for a drink and a rest.

If you find you would like to do either type of canvassing or even just sit in or go out with us one time to see what it is like then please click the "contact us" tab at the top of this page and someone will be happy to get in touch with you.
