Gerry Ellis Conservative Councillor for Hoylake & Meols

Gerry Ellis was elected as a Conservative councillor for Hoylake Ward in
1998 and he has lived in the ward for 40 years. He is married to Margaret
and they have three grown-up children and five grandchildren.
Currently, he is chairman of Wirral Borough Council's Employment & Appeals
Committee and a member of the Pensions Committee. He represents the
council on West Kirby Charities Trust, St Bridget's Education Trust and
the Hoylake Conservation Area Advisory Committee. He is also chairman of
the council's West Wirral Community Forum. Previously, he has served on
the Planning, Leisure Services, and Environment & Highways committees.
He is a Governor of St Bridget’s Primary School, West Kirby, and a deputy
Warden at St Bridget’s Church. He also serves as a member of the
management committees of Westbourne and
Hoylake Community centres and West Kirby Youth Club.
Gerry campaigns on many local issues including the smells discharged by
United Utilities at the Meols Water Treatment Plant. Also the grass on the
beaches of Hoylake and West Kirby; speeding traffic on Meols Drive and the
control of developers of excessively large blocks of flats in the Hoylake
and West Kirby areas.
Gerry has a BA degree in economics and employment relations. Having
previously practised as a personnel manager and college lecturer, he
formed an employment relations and management training consultancy
business in Liverpool in 1980. He is now semi-retired but continues to
advise some of his former company's clients on a part time basis.
