Esther McVey selected as Parliamentary Candidate

CONSERVATIVE PARLIAMENTARY Candidate for Wirral West in 2005, Esther McVey, has been selected by Wirral West Conservative Association to fight the Wirral West Seat** at the next General Election.

Esther said, “I would like to say thank you to all the members of Wirral West Conservative Association who have put their trust in me again. It is a great honour and privilege to have been selected for a second time as the Parliamentary Candidate for this Association.”

Esther is no stranger to the campaign trail. She had a baptism of fire standing in Wirral West against sitting Labour MP, Stephen Hesford; achieving one of the biggest swings in the Northwest from Labour to Conservatives and reducing the Labour MP’s majority to just 1,097 votes.

Aged 38, Esther was born and brought up in Liverpool and educated at Belvedere school before going to Queen Mary and Westfield University to study law. After graduating in law she did a post graduation course in radio journalism before embarking on a successful career in the media, both as a presenter and producer. Esther lives in West Kirby and is a director of the family construction company J.G. McVey and Co Ltd, which is based in Liverpool.
