What is
the Conservative Party and what do they stand for?
Conservative Party is
the most significant opposition Party in the UK
political system. Having held power many times over the
last 100 years the Conservative Party is a major
political force
in the UK.
There are currently a total of 646 members of the House
of Commons out of which there is a total of 196 MPs
representing the conservative Party and their
constituencies.
The Conservative Party is made up of four key
principles laid out and described below:-
Freedom
With this, conservatives mean the freedom to choose how
you live your life, not only in the way you spend your
money but also how you receive public services such as
medical treatment and education.
Conservatism does not believe in a state imposed
solution were some one else decides were your children
go to school or where you get hospital treatment, it is
the principle of allowing the individual make the
choice.
In addition to the individual this part of Conservatism
also extends to companies and organisations in giving
them the right to decide how they want to operate with
less intervention from the state.

Enterprise
The Conservative Party has always been the Party for the
entrepreneur. Conservatives have always been aware that
it is this type of person who is the dynamo that drives
British economy and as such makes us all prosperous. To
stand for the entrepreneur means to encourage growth
from within.
Conservatism encourages enterprise in the knowledge that
this is going to be of benefit for all. This is not just
in innovation in the creation of new products but also
the creation of new jobs and with new products and new
jobs come communal growth leading to communal wealth.
It has to be said that some of the greatest leaps in
industry and the economy in Great Britain over the
decades have been made during Conservative governments.

Responsibility
Responsibility is broken into three key areas
Responsibility for ourselves our family and for those
around us such as neighbours colleagues and those with
whom live, in the way that we live our lives.
Responsibility for your country in your right
and freedom to vote to control the way in
which it is governed.
Responsibility to the environment that we live in,
ensuring we have the least detrimental effect on our
surroundings, by conserving and recycling.

Patriotism
The Conservative Party and conservatism strongly
believes in the "United Kingdom".
Over the years Great Britain has shown itself to not
only be a great nation but also a highly respected one.
We also support and advocate self rule, were we are
happy to work with our neighbours but reserve the right
to govern ourselves.
Conservatism fights to ensure we maintain our rightful
independent place in the democratic free world.
Though some countries are small and need others to rely
upon in order to survive, we as a nation have and will
always be independent and capable of self sufficiency.

Obviously there is conservatism all over the world and
broadly speaking it does stand for the same principles
but here in the UK this is the best way to truly
describe were the Conservative Party is and what it
stands for.
